Hello, one and all. Welcome to my root beer blog. I have had this blog for a long time and haven’t done much with it for a long time. I wanted to find the motivation and the inspiration to work on this blog, but I haven’t had the drive to do so.
I recently joined a writing workshop group that should help me with my motivation in writing on this blog. I hope to start writing a blog post on this blog once a month on a different root beer. Look forwards to posts starting up in March.
Root beer is a drink that I’ve liked for a long time. I have drunk a lot of different types of root beer, over the years. I have drunk vanilla-based root beers, maple-based root beers, and so many more. I have wanted to write about all of these for a very long time and I haven’t found the focus to sit down and write. I look forwards to writing more here throughout the months to come.
Hello all. To start, before I get to the title of this entry, I want to explain where I have been. Work has been a bit crazy and I’ve not been in a good headspace to work on this blog. I am glad I am finally doing something with this blog. In the future, I am going to try to keep myself to either bi-monthly or monthly posts on this blog. Not sure how often I want to post here yet.
Anyways, onto root beer. There’s a store that is focused primarily on selling root beer, located in Utah, that I was introduced to years ago by my family for a present either at birthday or Christmas time. It’s called the Root Beer Store. They sell so many different types of root beer. I didn’t realize how many different types of root beer, including how many different companies make root beer, before I learned about this store. They also have a Root Beer of the Month Club, where you can sign up and they send you a variety pack of 6 or 12. They also have a version of the membership for a 6 or 12 pack of the same brand of root beer, which includes information about the company that makes the root beer. That’s the membership that I am subscribed to and will make a post about whenever I get a package from the Root Beer of the Month Club. Here’s the link to the store if you are interested in it: https://therootbeerstore.com/
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to talking about January’s Root Beer of the Month. (I know it’s February, it’s been a wild couple of weeks, so it took me some time to get around to this).
Bottle of Dad’s Root Beer
You might know Dad’s Root Beer. It’s a pretty popular root beer, having started back in the 1930s and by the 1940s Dad’s Root Beer was one of the most consumed root beers in the United States. According to information provided by the Root Beer of the Month Club, Jules Klapman, selected the name of Dad’s to honor his father, Ely Klapman, the co-founder of Dad’s. This name was also chosen to honor all the other fathers who brewed their own root beer throughout the 20th century for their families, which was very popular to do. I find it neat that brewing root beer was a pastime and I think, as a nation, we need to bring that back.
Now to its taste. I think it tastes alright. Personally, I don’t like root beers that have a lot of root in them, it makes them taste bitter or sour to me. I tend to prefer the creamier side of things when it comes to root beer. To me, root beer with a lot of root in it doesn’t leave me refreshed. It interrupts my experience of tasting root beer. This root beer has a lot of root in it. It’s a standard root beer for me. The thing it has going for it, for anyone who wants to check it out, is that this root beer is very popular, which means it is very widely sold. You can probably find it in your local grocery store if you want to try it out. I will give this root beer 3 out of 5 bottle caps. It’s your average run-of-the-mill root beer.
I hope that you look forwards to future iterations of the Root Beer of the Month Club and any other posts I might make between now and then. Feel free to reach out to jazzbuddy6@gmail.com if you want to get email updates from this blog in the future. I will also post to my Facebook, which you can find on the About Me page, whenever I have a new blog if you want to follow me there. Have a good day.
Hello, I am glad that you stopped by my blog. This is a new blog that I am doing about what I like about root beer. If you know me at all, you know that I like some root beer and I am particular about the types of root beer I like. This is probably a niche topic, but I have been thinking about making a blog like this for a long time. I hope you stick around and check out what’s coming.
I will be using a ranking system on my posts, where I give each root beer up to 5 out of 5 bottle caps. The more bottle caps the better I liked the root beer. The more likely I would try the root beer again, and the more likely I would recommend it for others.
For starters, let’s talk about the root in root beer. Root beer was originally made with the Sasparilla root, hence the root in root beer. Over time the makers of root beer realized that the Sasparilla plant causes some serious medical harm. So that’s where the name comes from.
I tend to like the more creamy root beer than the root beer that has a lot of root flavor and is strong with its root. For example, a unique root beer that I really liked is called Blonde Barrel Aged Root Beer, which is pictured below. It’s unique in that it’s not the stereotypical brown color one might think when they think about root beer. It looks like a cream soda. The “Blonde” in the name of the root beer, points towards the vanilla hints in the root beer. I have yet to taste another root beer with the vanilla of this root beer and it sets it apart from the others. The “Barrel Aged” points to the fact that Oak Creek uses molasses to bring out a long-lasting finish and to the fact that it leaves the root beer with a full-bodied texture. It is super unique and unlike no other root beer, I have ever tasted. I give it my full recommendation. 5 out of 5 bottle caps.
I hope you stick around for more posts in the future. Feel free to reach out to jazzbuddy6@gmail.com if you want to get email updates from this blog in the future. I will also post to my Facebook, which you can find on the About Me page, whenever I have a new blog if you want to follow me there. Hope you have a good day.
