Dad’s Root Beer

Hello all. To start, before I get to the title of this entry, I want to explain where I have been. Work has been a bit crazy and I’ve not been in a good headspace to work on this blog. I am glad I am finally doing something with this blog. In the future, I am going to try to keep myself to either bi-monthly or monthly posts on this blog. Not sure how often I want to post here yet.

Anyways, onto root beer. There’s a store that is focused primarily on selling root beer, located in Utah, that I was introduced to years ago by my family for a present either at birthday or Christmas time. It’s called the Root Beer Store. They sell so many different types of root beer. I didn’t realize how many different types of root beer, including how many different companies make root beer, before I learned about this store. They also have a Root Beer of the Month Club, where you can sign up and they send you a variety pack of 6 or 12. They also have a version of the membership for a 6 or 12 pack of the same brand of root beer, which includes information about the company that makes the root beer. That’s the membership that I am subscribed to and will make a post about whenever I get a package from the Root Beer of the Month Club. Here’s the link to the store if you are interested in it: https://therootbeerstore.com/

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to talking about January’s Root Beer of the Month. (I know it’s February, it’s been a wild couple of weeks, so it took me some time to get around to this).

Bottle of Dad’s Root Beer

You might know Dad’s Root Beer. It’s a pretty popular root beer, having started back in the 1930s and by the 1940s Dad’s Root Beer was one of the most consumed root beers in the United States. According to information provided by the Root Beer of the Month Club, Jules Klapman, selected the name of Dad’s to honor his father, Ely Klapman, the co-founder of Dad’s. This name was also chosen to honor all the other fathers who brewed their own root beer throughout the 20th century for their families, which was very popular to do. I find it neat that brewing root beer was a pastime and I think, as a nation, we need to bring that back.

Now to its taste. I think it tastes alright. Personally, I don’t like root beers that have a lot of root in them, it makes them taste bitter or sour to me. I tend to prefer the creamier side of things when it comes to root beer. To me, root beer with a lot of root in it doesn’t leave me refreshed. It interrupts my experience of tasting root beer. This root beer has a lot of root in it. It’s a standard root beer for me. The thing it has going for it, for anyone who wants to check it out, is that this root beer is very popular, which means it is very widely sold. You can probably find it in your local grocery store if you want to try it out. I will give this root beer 3 out of 5 bottle caps. It’s your average run-of-the-mill root beer.

I hope that you look forwards to future iterations of the Root Beer of the Month Club and any other posts I might make between now and then. Feel free to reach out to jazzbuddy6@gmail.com if you want to get email updates from this blog in the future. I will also post to my Facebook, which you can find on the About Me page, whenever I have a new blog if you want to follow me there. Have a good day.
